Susan R. Necheles
Partner

Susan specializes in the defense of individuals and corporations being investigated for or charged with criminal offenses. A fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, she has obtained acquittals at trial for defendants charged with a wide variety of offenses, including health care fraud, securities fraud, perjury, commercial bribery, and charges of sexual misconduct. She has also represented clients in other forums such as attorney disciplinary hearings and FINRA disciplinary hearings, and in connection with corporate internal investigations. Known as a fearless and tireless advocate, Susan often convinces prosecutors and regulators that no indictment, civil charges or disciplinary proceedings should be brought against her clients, or obtains favorable dispositions for her clients without a trial.
Earlier in her career, Susan worked as an Assistant District Attorney in Kings County. She most recently served as the President of the New York Council of Defense Lawyers and had previously headed the New York Women's Criminal Defense Lawyer's Group. Susan has been listed in New York Super Lawyers as one of the leading white collar criminal defense lawyers in New York every year since 2006, and has been recognized in a number of publications including Who’s Who Legal and Avenue Magazine. She is often a panelist on white collar criminal programs and has lectured or taught CLE courses on topics such as an attorney’s ethical obligations, trial practice, and sentencing.
